installing xp in already vista installed notebook

I tried to install windows xp sp3 to a hp notebook which is already installed with vista. while installing it shows that there is no hard disk connected to the system. what may be the problem?

note: the system is already got corrupted and could not be able to connect to internet. but windows is opening the desktop.

first install vista fully and then try to install sp3 i have same problem in desktop i change hard disk connector the problem is solved:123:
